Practicum Application
A great opportunity for a future mental health clinician.
Intersect believes in supporting future mental health clinicians and has committed to providing practicum placements for students in bachelor and masters level Counselling or Social Work programs. Masters level students will be given priority.
**Unfortunately, due to space constraints, we are unable to support any practicum placements in 2024.
Please check back here for 2025 updates.**
The following are guidelines to ensure this placement is the best fit in order to promote the greatest success for students completing a practicum with Intersect:
- Potential students need to have a strong work experience with children, youth and possibly parents/caregivers.
- Practicum placements at Intersect start in September and require students to commit 8 months in order to provide students enough time to complete client’s therapeutic goal work and participate in group therapy.
- Interested students need to submit a letter of intent as to why they believe they are a good fit for our agency and a resume with 2-3 references. Selected students then will be invited to do an interview.
- Successful applicants will need to complete a criminal record check prior to starting their practicum. Once their practicum starts, students will complete an orientation with their supervisor and get settled into the agency before being assigned clients.
